We had power

Here is a parody of "Seasons in the sun" by Rod McKuen and Jacques Brel

We had power by Rob Hood ©2004

We had light

We had power

We had cable powered net

till the tornado came through

and fried my computer set

Hello to you my many friends

I thought we were connected

to the very end

Now I have no way to

receive or send

and my incoming messages

are lined up end to end

We had light

We had power

We had cable powered net

till the tornado came through

and fried my computer set

Hello to all

a computer dies

often after lightning

fills the skies

If you're in a bar

drinking beer

think of me

because I'll be near

We had light

We had power

We had cable powered net

till the tornado came through

and fried my computer set

Hello to all it's time to cry

and mourn my computer

that's been fried

I have no lights

I cannot see

Why has this been done to me?

We had light

We had power

We had cable powered net

till the tornado came through

and fried my computer set

Now I sit at my desk and write

thinking of Ben Franklin and his kite

in the rain with his key

The lightning hit and he could see

We had light

We had power

We had cable powered net

till the tornado came through

and fried my computer set

And now I can't understand this effect

why the lightning hit and fried my computer set

thankfully I found pen

Now I'll keep writing end on end

We had light

We had power

We had cable powered net

till the tornado came through

and fried my computer set
